Dig Deeper (optional/personal study)

  1. Research: Worship (2:20–23): Read these verses out loud several times. As you read, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal different ways God has blessed you and shown you favor. Respond by praising and thanking God for each example he reveals. Then, take time to intercede for Clovis EVFree, elders, ministry staff, and our congregation.

  • Prayers of intercession appear throughout Scripture. Nehemiah prayed for God’s attention to his petition on behalf of Israel, confessing the nation’s sins (Neh. 1:5–11), and Moses interceded with God, appealing to his covenant promises to prevent judgment against the Israelites (Ex. 32:11–14). Jesus’ High Priestly Prayer focuses on glorifying God and interceding for his followers, asking that they be kept unified and protected (Jn. 17). Paul prayed that believers would be spiritually strengthened and comprehend Christ’s love (Eph. 3:14–21), and he prayed that others would be filled with knowledge of God’s will and bear spiritual fruit (Col. 1:9–14).
