A Ram & A Male Goat – Daniel 8:1-14

Ice Breaker

1. Read Daniel 8:1-14 as a group.
2. Continue praying for our Fall 2026 Wednesday family night initiative (September 9, 2026):
1. Consider how you may participate. (Those interested in volunteering, please see our bulletin announcement or our Church Center App or let one of our leaders know).
2. Pray for the families that will be discipled.

Loving God Unreservedly

1. Why is it wrong to become complacent, even though Christ has already won the victory?
2. How does Daniel’s vision show both God’s judgment of evil nations and his discipline of his people?

Loving People Sacrificially

1. Of all the current, violent world affairs, which one troubles you most?
2. What was the description of the ram in Daniel’s dream? (8:3–4)
3. What did the goat do to the ram? (8:5–7)
4. What happened to the goat at the height of his power? (8:8)
5. How did the little horn grow in importance? (8:9–12)
6. What did the angel, the “holy one,” reveal? (8:13–14)

Making Disciples Purposefully

1. How are you preparing yourself to persevere through difficult times as you look forward to heaven?
2. How are you helping others hear the good news of Jesus?
3. Pray.

Dig Deeper (optional/personal study)

1. Research: the following historical periods:

• The Medo-Persian Empire.
• The Greek Empire under Alexander the Great.
• The reign of Antiochus Epiphanes IV.

1. (vv. 12-13) what is meant by, “transgression?”

• A clear definition of transgression is to rise-up in clear defiance to authority, rebellion against community, it’s a crime, it goes contrary to a standard (human or divine).
• Sin leads to poverty, destruction, and judgement. How does God deal with our sin? (cf. Ezk. 18:20; Jas. 1:15; Rom. 6:23; Prov. 11:19; Heb. 12:6-11)
