What It Takes To Rebuild – Haggai 1:12-15

Ice Breaker

1. Read Haggai 1:12-15 as a group.
2. In verse 12 we read of Israel’s response to the prophetic word. From what you know of Israel’s history, how is their response both surprising and encouraging? Discuss this as a group.

Loving God Unreservedly

3. When have you known without a doubt that God was with you?
4. What does it mean that the Lord stirred up their spirit? (vs. 14)

Loving People Sacrificially

5. What are you currently doing to glorify God within his temple (the church)?
6. How does God’s promise of being with us (vs. 13) change our view of serving Him? (vv. 13, 14)
7. Israel’s response is a wonderful picture of true repentance. What elements of repentance do you see in the people’s response to the word of God?
8. How does God’s temple (the church) bring glory to Him? (vs. 8)
9. How do misplaced priorities in life reveal the true nature of idolatry of our heart?

Making Disciples Purposefully

10. God’s promise of being with his people is central to Haggai’s message (vs. 13), how is this massage prime for sharing the gospel to the lost? (cf. Is. 7:14)
11. With whom could you share the gospel this week?

12. Research: The book of Haggai is composed of five oracles. (1:1, 15; 2:1, 10, 20) An oracle in the Bible was understood as a divine message communicated by spokesman (prophet).
