1/21/21-Weekly Letter from Pastor Melvin

Melvin-head-shot

Dear Church Family,

For this week and next, this weekly letter will be slightly different than it has been in weeks and months past. The reason is we are finally transitioning this letter to be the intentional weekly blog post on our website entitled, “Pastor’s Corner.” This change was initially mentioned a couple of months ago when we stopped recording weekly devotionals. However, various circumstances prevented us from launching this ministry endeavor until now. And the reason this transition makes sense is the purpose behind the weekly devotionals, my weekly letter and the Pastor’s Corner is to hear from God’s Word, seek to understand it, and to apply it to our lives.

Now, practically, this means to engage with the truths shared through this relaunched ministry requires going to our website, locating the “Resources” tab at the top, and navigating to “Pastor’s Corner.” Those who we know are unable to do this will receive these posts via regular mail. So, here we go!

In the Pastor’s Corner, we will be seeking brief insights from a Bible book, and the first book is Philippians. Being informed by Philippians 1:27, we will seek to understand the gospel’s impact on our personal lives within the church. For Paul writes,

“Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.”

Next week, we will lay out our intended map through Philippians and present some background information on this encouraging and challenging letter. I’m excited to be spending this time with you in God’s Word, and I hope you all share in my excitement!
