1/15/21-Weekly Letter from Pastor Melvin

Dear Church Family,

Almost every year in January brings about thoughts of renewed purpose and practices in the lives of many people, including many Christians. This is understandable given the worldwide focus on “newness” as a new year begins. However, I think as Christians our purpose and practice were given to us by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ centuries ago. For the church is “built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the cornerstone” (Ephesians 2:20). Thus, through the apostles, our Lord has commissioned the church through the apostles to make disciples of Jesus Christ of all ethno-linguistic people groups wherever our Lord sends us in this world. This is how Jesus says this,

“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

(Matthew 28:18-20)

Praise God that we are not left to our own devices, ingenuity, and power in fulfilling God’s call for us to take the gospel to the world. Jesus is with us! This is why Paul writes, “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)

May we boldly share and live the gospel of Jesus Christ in our homes, in Clovis, in Fresno, in the San Joaquin Valley, and throughout the world!
