Bible-based Evangelical Free Church in Clovis is prayerfully seeking a pastor-teacher to
shepherd our congregation through the faithful proclamation of the Scriptures.
Character Qualities
- Intimate relationship with the Lord expressed through the consistent practice of spiritual
disciplines (Matthew 22:37-38; John 15:4)
• Life pattern that fulfills the biblical qualifications for an elder (I Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9)
- Passion for and mastery of the Scriptures (Psalm 119:97; II Timothy 2:15)
- Servant-leader that exhibits humility and grace (I Peter 5:2-3; II Timothy 2:24-26)
- Skilled communicator who both explains and applies the truths of God’s Word in his public
ministry (messages and meetings) and through his personal ministry (decisions, relationships,
and other situations) (Nehemiah 8:7-8; II Timothy 4:2)
- Self-sacrificial love for the flock, guiding believers to greater maturity in their walk with God
and greater effectiveness in their ministry in the church and community (Acts 20:28; I Peter 5:3;
Ephesians 4:11-16)

Relationships and Responsibilities
- As a pastor elder, he will serve on and be mutually accountable to the board of elders. He will
equip and lead the elders in shepherding the flock. He will commit himself, with the elders, to
pray for the congregation. He will provide leadership, vision, and wisdom in decision-making in
discussions with the elder team.
- As a teaching pastor, he will work closely with the Pastor of Worship Arts to design and
facilitate both the content and flow of the worship services. He will carry the primary
responsibility for the preaching ministry of the church.
- As a lead pastor, he will oversee and equip the ministry staff of the church, seeking to help
them fulfill their areas of responsibility and equip others also. He will instill vision, build teamwork,
and train them as effective servant leaders of the church. He will also encourage and
support all of the various ministries of the church.
Education and Ministry Experience
- Advanced biblical or theological degree from a graduate school or seminary is preferred.
- Experience as a teaching pastor, lead pastor, or senior pastor is preferred, but not required.
