In 1982, a group of twenty five people from the Fresno Evangelical Free Church began a Bible study with the intent of establishing a new church in Clovis. That year, the church board voted to approve the formation of Clovis Evangelical Free Church. Our first service was held on June 13, 1982. Our charter membership closed in October, 1982 with seventy five members. We first met at Mickey Cox Elementary School for services and rented a neighboring house for Sunday School. We then moved to the Clovis High School cafeteria where additional space was available for both Sunday School classes and nursery.
In 1983, we called our first pastor and purchased ten acres of land on Armstrong Ave. We completed a multi-purpose building in 1985 and an adjoining three-room Nursery Center in 1986. Through the years, we have seen God at work in our lives, challenging us to grow in our maturity in Christ, our fellowship with one another, our opportunities for service with our ministry gifts, and our witness to a world without Christ.
